Recent Customer Findings Underscore Need for Unified Enterprise Key Management Strategy

New analyst brief by ESG senior analyst Jon Oltsik focuses on lessons learned from Ingrian Networks’ RSA 2007 customer panel and includes real-world stories about enterprise security, data encryption and PCI Compliance

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – March 26, 2007 – Ingrian® Networks, Inc., the leading provider of data privacy solutions, today announced that Jon Oltsik, senior analyst with Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), has released an information security brief titled “Data Encryption Lessons Learned” which includes findings from Ingrian’s customer panel that took place at RSA 2007.  At the event, a number of Ingrian customers including several Fortune 500 companies shared real-world stories about enterprise security, data encryption and PCI compliance.  Oltsik’s paper is available for download at http://www.ingrian.com/solutions_resource.html

“Ingrian has provided valuable information to the security industry by offering well-known customers to share real world lessons in selecting and operationalizing encryption solutions,” said Oltsik. “My summary brief reinforces this and helps educate organizations on strategies to avoid common pitfalls and provide a foundation for best practices.”

In his brief, Oltsik shares an analyst perspective and summarizes Ingrian customer findings in three ‘golden rules’ for the encryption success.

Organizations should:

  • Place high importance on the upfront preparation as it is essential for proper deployment.
  • Take a strategic approach to encryption across the enterprise, and be clear about which databases and applications will be encrypted.
  • Ensure that well-defined processes are in place to anchor the encryption technology.

“Preparing for encryption is as important as the actual implementation,” said Erich Baumgartner, VP of Sales and Marketing, Ingrian Networks.  “It’s essential that organizations understand both the strategic motives and the implementation tactics. We feel the best way to do this is to allow people to hear from customers who have successfully implemented Ingrian encryption.”

Ingrian hosted its own customer panel at this year’s RSA conference in San Francisco.  Panelists included security architects from the world’s leading companies and AmbironTrustWave, a leading provider of security and compliance management solutions to Fortune 2000 businesses and the public sector.  Ingrian selected its customers based on their concrete metrics of success, encryption strategies and data privacy objectives:

  • A leading document management that implemented enterprise encryption across 68 applications in 4 months
  • A leading telecommunications company that implemented enterprise encryption across 36 applications and database servers in 8 months with zero code changes
  • A leading financial services company that deployed encryption across thousands of applications and databases
