Ingrian Unveils Next-Generation DataSecure Platforms for Guarding Against Data Theft

New Hardware Platforms Make Encryption Processing More Reliable and Faster—with Throughput Boosted by 50%

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.—June 20, 2005— Ingrian® Networks, Inc., the leading provider of data privacy solutions, today announced the availability of the next generation of their flagship Ingrian DataSecure™ Platforms. DataSecure is the only appliance-based encryption solution available today that features granular, field-level encryption capabilities and that can be integrated at the Web server, application server, or database layer. In addition, DataSecure centralizes cryptographic processing, key and policy management, and security administration, which yields tremendous advantages in terms of security, scalability, and manageability.

Since the beginning of this year, over 15 large-scale data breaches have been reported, with more than 7.8 million credit card numbers and social security numbers having been potentially exposed. By delivering intelligent encryption capabilities, Ingrian helps enterprises cost-effectively address many of their most critical security gaps. Now, new DataSecure Platforms, based on state-of-the-art Dell 1850 and 2850 servers, feature several enhancements that make encryption processing faster and more reliable—further improving the ROI of Ingrian’s leading solutions.

“We’re extremely pleased with these latest enhancements and the benefits this new hardware will deliver to our customers,” said Karim Toubba, Ingrian’s vice president of product management and marketing. “By providing these enhancements in performance and availability, we’re able to help our customers realize significant cost savings, while they enjoy the benefits of proactively securing their sensitive data.”

This new release marks the latest in a series of recent enhancements to Ingrian DataSecure Platforms. In the past several months, Ingrian has delivered software enhancements that significantly streamline the database integration process, boost manageability and administrative control, and increase server performance. The latest enhancements to the platform enable faster processing and response times as well as more continuous uptime, making the DataSecure Platform an even more attractive and cost-effective solution for encrypting and fully protecting data. This new hardware release features:

  • Enhanced performance, through optimized software and hardware—including EM64T support, DDR-2 Memory, and PCI Express—with one appliance now able to process over 12,000 cryptographic operations per second, representing a 50% increase over previous hardware platforms.
  • Reliability, including redundant processor and RAID (redundant arrays of inexpensive disks) support, which ensures optimal availability, even in the event of hardware faults.
  • Rack-mounted, 1u or 2u appliance form factor that enables convenient, cost-effective integration in enterprise data centers.
About DataSecure Platforms

Ingrian’s DataSecure platforms provide an intelligent, cost-effective way to protect critical data from both internal and external threats. As a result, organizations can better ensure that they are compliant with legislative and policy mandates for security, and eliminate the risks of data thefts.

The platform is comprised of three components:

  • The DataSecure appliance, a dedicated hardware system,
  • The Network-Attached Encryption (NAE) Server, which runs on the DataSecure appliance, and
  • The Ingrian NAE Connector, software that is installed on the Web, application, or database server.

DataSecure offers flexible implementation options so organizations can deploy in a way that makes sense for their business and security needs—whether at the Web, application, or database level. DataSecure platforms can be efficiently integrated in Windows, Java, Linux, and Unix environments, and they work seamlessly with leading databases—including IBM DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server. DataSecure encrypts data in databases and applications at the column or field level, and can be used to secure such data as credit card numbers, social security numbers, passwords, account balances, and email addresses.
